01 · How a GMP Batch Comes Together

One Formulation, Several Process Stages

A pharmaceutical batch moves through distinct unit operations: phase preparation, powder wetting, high shear emulsification or dispersion, then vacuum de-aeration and homogenization to final texture. Each stage is a Prócer machine. Click any to explore it.

Your formulation uses the stages it needs: a simple syrup may need only powder wetting and homogenization; a medicated cream uses the full emulsify-and-de-aerate sequence. Scroll sideways on mobile.

03 · The Technology

Rotor-Stator High Shear Mixing, Explained

Every Prócer machine (batch or inline, lab or production) is built around the same rotor-stator high shear principle. Understanding it makes equipment selection straightforward.

01

Intake

A high-speed rotor turning inside a fixed stator creates powerful suction, drawing liquids and solids into the workhead, the same self-pumping action that lets an inline high shear mixer feed itself without an auxiliary pump.

02

Shear

Centrifugal force drives material into the precision gap between rotor and stator, where intense mechanical and hydraulic shear mill particles and droplets to a smaller, uniform size, the core of emulsification, dispersion and deagglomeration.

03

Expel & recirculate

Material is forced out through the stator perforations at high velocity as fresh material is drawn in. In single-pass or recirculation mode, this progressively reduces particle size to the target specification.

Batch vs inline, high shear vs high speed disperser. A batch high shear mixer works inside a vessel; an inline high shear homogenizer processes continuously in a pipeline and pumps as it mixes. Both differ from a simple high-speed disperser (a sawtooth blade for lower-shear dispersion) by the close rotor-stator tolerance that delivers far finer, more uniform results. Interchangeable workheads let one Prócer machine emulsify, homogenize, disperse, deagglomerate and wet-out powders, from a bench trial to a full ointment, cream or liquid oral manufacturing plant. As a rotor-stator equipment manufacturer, exporter and supplier, Prócer builds this rotor stator technology across the full range, from a benchtop industrial mixer to full production-scale industrial mixing.

04 · Lab & R&D Mixers: Where Formulation Begins

Laboratory High Shear Mixers & Homogenizers

The lab bench is where every pharmaceutical product starts, and it's a market in its own right. Research labs, formulation teams, QC departments and universities need lab homogenizers that deliver industrial-grade rotor-stator shear at millilitre-to-litre volumes, with the reproducibility to carry a formulation from the bench to production without a technology change. Prócer builds two, each for a different lab workflow.

07 · Scale-Up Path

One Shear Principle, Bench to Full Production

Mixing is the most common source of scale-up failure in pharma: a formulation that homogenizes easily in a 1 L beaker can behave differently at 500 L. Because the Prócer lab, batch and inline machines all share the same rotor-stator shear geometry, results validated on a lab mixer translate predictably to production, generating the process data GMP submissions require.

09 · FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Prócer supply complete ointment, cream and liquid oral manufacturing plants?
Yes. Prócer supplies the core mixing and homogenization equipment: vacuum emulsifier mixers, inline homogenizers and powder induction systems, integrated into complete ointment cream plants, gel manufacturing plants and liquid oral / syrup manufacturing plants, with phase vessels, storage tanks and transfer systems for turnkey cGMP production.
What is a vacuum emulsifier mixer used for?
A vacuum emulsifier mixer (high speed emulsifier) combines heating, high shear homogenization and vacuum de-aeration in one vessel to produce ointments, creams, gels, lotions and emulsions. The vacuum removes entrapped air for a smooth, stable, air-free semi-solid, the standard machine at the heart of an ointment cream manufacturing plant.
Is Prócer pharmaceutical equipment GMP compliant?
Yes. Prócer pharmaceutical process equipment is built with SS316L product-contact surfaces, crevice-free mirror-polished finishes and CIP/SIP-ready design to support GMP-compliant manufacturing. Documentation support for IQ/OQ/PQ qualification is available on request.
What pharmaceutical products can Prócer equipment manufacture?
Prócer equipment manufactures ointments, creams, gels, lotions, oral syrups, suspensions, emulsions, Carbopol and polymer dispersions, and topical semi-solids. The MixPro vacuum emulsifying mixer, Nexus inline homogenizer and HFD powder induction system cover mixing, emulsification, homogenization and powder wetting across these formulations.
Does Prócer equipment do API particle size reduction?
Prócer rotor-stator homogenizers perform wet dispersion, deagglomeration and particle size reduction into the micron range, typically 2–5 microns, which is suitable for suspensions, emulsions and most topical formulations. Sub-micron and nanomilling below one micron require dedicated bead or jet mills, which are a separate equipment class we don't claim to cover.
Can I scale up from lab to production on Prócer equipment?
Yes. The Revtron batch lab homogenizer, NucleoLab inline lab homogenizer and full-scale MixPro and Nexus production machines share the same rotor-stator shear principle, so a formulation validated on a lab mixer translates predictably to commercial production, critical for GMP scale-up and regulatory submission data.
